Year in Asia is the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific’s (CAP) flagship program for overseas study, providing students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and culture of their chosen country for up to 12 months.
Year in Asia requires students to focus at least 50% of their coursework on the language of their host country but also allows students the flexibility to build their own experience. Year in Asia aims to prepare students for a career engaged with Asia. Students should expect to return from their experience with a high level of language proficiency and a deeper understanding of the cultures and societies they have been living in.
Sogang University was established in 1960 by the Society of Jesus to provide an education based on Catholic beliefs and inspired by the Jesuit philosophy of education, in conformity with the Korean tradition of education.
Sogang University aims the education of the whole person with love and faith, respect the values on the sense of human dignity and encourage to pursuit and seek for learning with the sincere quest for truth. Through this education, educate the talents who will devote their lives to the development of a humanistic culture and community.
Sogang University offers courses to Year in Asia students from eight schools: Humanities and International Cultures, Social Sciences, Communication, Economics, Integrated Knowledge, Business, Natural Sciences and Engineering.
Numerous English-taught courses are available across many subject areas including: Behavioural Economics, Business Statistics, Principles of Accounting, Financial Management, Plant Developmental Biology, Organic Chemistry, Communications Research, Digital Logic Design, Public Relations Strategies and Theories, Mathematical Methods in Chemical Engineering and many more.

The equivalent of 24 ANU units at Sogang University is 15 Sogang credits. Year in Asia students undertake a total of 48 ANU units over two semesters.
The Gonzaga Dormitory, located on campus at Sogang University, can accommodate up to 900 students in double rooms. The dormitory houses students from all over the world in a multicultural atmosphere. To be eligible for housing at Gonzaga Dormitory, you must be enrolled at Sogang University as an undergraduate student, a special or professional graduate school student or an exchange student.

CAP has secured New Colombo Plan mobility grants for this program. Students who meet the New Colombo Plan eligibility guidelines will be provided with a $7,000 New Colombo Plan mobility grant, provided by the Australian Government. To be eligible you must:

The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific provides guaranteed financial support to students studying in Asia and the Pacific as part of their degree. Successful applicants that do not receive an NCP grant will receive $3000 of funding support through the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific’s Engage Asia Travel Guarantee.
