We hope that everything will run smoothly while you are overseas, but sometimes students face unforeseen medical emergencies that can be a little stressful in a foreign country. It is helpful to be aware of what you may need to be cautious of while you are away. ANU CRISIS LINE

It can be very overwhelming moving to a new country, so we want to make sure that students know there is always someone to talk to if they are emotionally distressed.
 
ANU Crisis Support Line - 5pm-9am weekdays, 24/7 weekends and public holidays.
Text: 0488 884 170 and they will call back during the Australian working hours.


CONSULAR EMERGENCY CENTRE (CEC)
You can call our Consular Emergency Centre (CEC) at any time on +61 2 6261 3305 if you require emergency referral to one of the following services:

- Lifeline Crisis Support Hotline
- Beyond Blue
- Suicide call back service
- And the ACT -1800 629 354 - Mental Health Triage Service.
 

TRAVEL ADVICE

You must always research safety conditions and the emergency service numbers in your host country prior to leaving for your program.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade provides free, up-to-date travel advice on the safety ratings and condition of the country you are going to.
You can register your travel plans and receive email updates, once you have subscribed to Smartraveller.
